Yet another early start this morning. Our taxi collected us at 6.30am for our flight to Hamilton island in the Whitsundays. The flight was great and due to clear sky's the views were stunning. After 1 1/2 hours we were landing on what seemed like paradise. We had to get a ferry to the mainland which took an hour, through turquoise waters in hot sunshine.
When we docked we hadn't any taxi waiting so looking at a map thought we could walk to our accommodation. Then we saw a hill and decided to get a cab rather than drag our bags. We stood waiting at the dock when a guy pulled up in a van and started loading building stuff in it. We asked him if he was local and if he knew how far our place was. He said it wasn't far and put our stuff in his van and took us to the door. Real friendly these Aussies.
Our bed for the next 2 nights is a self catering apartment. It's is conveniently situated but quite basic. As we are only here for such a short time it's fine. Tomorrow we are out on a boat all day then we are off again.
It has been quite nice to just stop this afternoon and do nowt. We had a swim and a read and now off to find some food.
