Well what can I write about today? Words fail me fandabby dosy, great, brilliant, superb, mind blowing, etc. etc.
We were picked up at 8.30am and driven to the local marina where we boarded a smallish boat for a trip round the Whitsunday Islands. There were 22 people on board and the weather was slightly cloudy but warm.
Our first stop was a snorkel. A bit different from our experience in Cairns. A much smaller boat but the staff just as keen to ensure everyone had fun but stayed safe. The pictures this time were much better because the sun was shining and you could see the colours in the coral and the beautiful coloured fish. Still had to wear the trendy stinger suits though,in case of jellyfish.
We then went to another island and were taken on a bush walk with views across the wonderful 7km Whitehaven Beach. After that we cruised round the island and actually landed on the beach. It is mainly Silica sand and is so soft and very white, it also squeaks when you walk on it. The staff cooked us a BBQ on the beach and we were joined by iguanas who could apparently smell the food - some of the people ended up standing on the tables to eat their food. I also spotted the biggest spider in a web hanging off a tree.
We stayed on the beach for a couple of hours after lunch and by then it had become very hot.
Our return journey to Airlie beach was great with the crew serving us cheese and biscuits. The cheese being made by the companies owner. It was delicious.
Too short a time here would like to go out on the water again tomorrow. But the show must go on and we pick up scar in the morning for a 9 hour drive to Bundaberg/Bagara where we will stay in Louise and Ross's house for 2 nights. Hopefully get a bit of washing done.
