We arrived at Ubud on Saturday, it's not quite as hectic as Kuta but not much quieter. We found a really nice place to stay; it's a bit more up market than the tent. It's really hot here also, I can see now why people who live in hot countries are never in a rush, it's too hot to do anything quickly. Looked around Ubud on Saturday and Sunday, there is a big festival here on the 22nd, for the Hindu new year, people are painting big statues to the gods and decorating all of the temples. They are very religious here; they live in a shack but have really nice decorated house temples in their gardens. There are little baskets made of leaves with rice and stuff in all around the streets that they have left for the gods.
We took a trip out from Ubud on Monday and went to a number of their oldest temples, (have seen enough temples now), we also went to some rice terraces, a butterfly park and saw lots of the countryside in central Bali.
We are leaving Ubud today and heading to Amed on the east coast, hoping to do some snorkelling there. Am still having trouble uploading my photos, will try again in next location.
