We arrived in Amed to discover it was a small one street village with a few hotels and a black volcanic beach. The hotels were cheap but not very good, they all looked a bit old and in need of a refresh. We left Ubud and headed to Amed by bus, the trip took around 3 hours. We headed to Amed as it is supposed to be the best place in Bali for snorkelling, but when you het in the sea ther are fish and corel but there is also old fishing nets and bits of plastic. There is only snorkelling or diving to do in Amed, everyone just seems to sit around looking at the sea. We arrived at Ubud on Saturday, it's not quite as hectic as Kuta but not much quieter. We found a really nice place to stay; it's a bit more up market than the tent. It's really hot here also, I can see now why people who live in hot countries are never in a rush, it's too hot to do anything quickly.
