A day on waiheke island was my plan. Got up bright and early to catch the 9.00 ferry from Auckland. When I got there I made use of the free Internet at the library to book my transport to rotura and my accommodation. Then had a look round the little village before going on some walking trails. Only problem being that the rain came as soon as I started. The mixture of wind and rain did not go well with a Coastal walk but it was fine and I got to see some stunning secluded bays. The next trail was almost entirely uphill, although I did make it after several break on the way. At this point the rain had got worse and I was soaked. So I called it a day and made my way back to the ferry. My day on the islands turned in to half a day so I decided to have a look round Auckland. Found it dull to be honest the highlight was an Indian at a food court. I am now soaked through back at the hostel but on the bright side it should be a cool night and I miss the heavy downpours in the city tomorrow.

On to rotora tomorrow, a 6.30 start, which a am very much looking forward to.
