Make it to the border around 8am, no real dramas getting across from Laos to Thailand Casey had a British and a New Zealand passport which took a bit of time but apart from that all good we had all slept solid on the bus with our Valium stock up so the rest of the journey went ok got to Chiang Mai still around 3 in the afternoon! Long ass bus! Got to a hostel called Deejai real nice owner knowledgable about the whole place which was helpful I wanted to do the elephant trekking here and he knew just the place so I booked onto that for first thing tomorrow morning. A guy called Joe from Leeds joined us as well so me him and Casey had a dorm room and Tom and Tanya in a private room. We went straight to the pool round the corner for a Chang and PAD THAI! Miss that s*** so much I could live off a pad Thai! Started pissing down for a bit but soon went away. After that me and Joe wanted to watch the footy so found a awesome bar that was showing 4 live games on! City v Watford, Scouse v West Ham who lost 2-1 get in and Chelsea were on too who lost to Palace. Few beers and food here got some nachos which were worldy. Headed then from Chiang Mai Saloon to the bars near Zoey's which I remembered from last time and found Casey in a ska/reggae bar which was quality! Tom and Tanya didn't make it out they were heading to Pai first thing so probably just wanted a chilled night after our horrendous bus we took. Few drinks at this bar and then everywhere shut! The bombing again in Bangkok having an effect even up here the guy at the hostel said how much the tourism economy has taken a hit only 35 people were staying at the hostel compared to 100+ regularly before it happened. So we went on the back of some guys mopeds and went round the town to find somewhere that was open which we did and stayed there till it closed. This was around 2 so headed back as I had to be up for 8 to go on my elephant trekking trip and to be fair needed some sleep after today it just seemed like it flew since getting here. So good to be back in Thailand though!
