Shane and Sarah's Adventures
Hey all!
Been making our way along the Garden Route for the last week or so.
Had a ball in Cape Town - beautiful city!. Took us about 4 days to recover from the trek up and down Table Mountain! 56 days of sitting on a truck has left a little unfit! Spent some time on the beaches and walked as many suburbs as we could. Loved it. Great restauirants and great scenery. Still struggling to assume the typical backpacker role and keep finding ourselves at reasonable resturants ordering several courses and wine!
Left Cape Town on the 23rd and headed down the coast to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point before driving up the east coast to the wine region for a couple of days. This area is absolutely beautiful and is definitely recommended. We based ourselves in Stellenbosch and then did a wine tour on our own throughout this area and the Franschoek area. Loved it and you could easily spend a week or two here sampling the wine and cheeses from more than 100 vineyards!
We then headed down to the Garden Route with our first stop at Mossel Bay (the start of this route) and after a night there carried on to Buffalo Bay to a backpackers located right on the beach! Stunning coastline and great surf. The weather was a little lousy so we packed up after a night there and carried on to the famous Jeffreys Bay, home of the best surf in the country and host to regular World Cup surfing events. Sun is out today so spent time watching the surfers. I'm trying to get the guts to hire a board but I think I'll look a little average compared to these lads!
Here for another day or so and then off to Cintsa which is on the Wild Coast, east of East London.
Speak soon
