Hola chicos
Well travelling pretty quickly now! Spent a few days in Bocas del Toro, Panama and went for a couple of pretty average dives there. Nice place though, very laid back and relaxing.
Since then we crossed the border to Costa Rica (a state of USA I think!) and stayed a night at Puerto Viejo, a very touristy town on the Caribbean side. Bit of a disappointment actually, lots of stories of people being robbed there and we were nearly one of them. Woke up in the middle of a very stormy night to the sound of scratching around our window and door and then a torch being shined through the room. After a slight delayed reaction, I yelled , OYE, and it appeared that the person went away. After a little more thought I went to check the window and found a few of the louvres had been taken out and my backback had been dragged closer to the window (using a long metal hook which we found outside our room). Lucky nothing had been taken but the guys in the room downstairs were not so lucky, the thief had got in to their room and taken a day bag. Thieving locals! So, 9am bus outta there for us!
We then travelled a day to get to the other and more northern side of Costa Rica to a beach town called Playa del Coco on the Pacific. Beautiful weather here and a very laid back town although again it is full with Americans which has pushed up the prices and all the locals speak English.
So just a couple of days here on the beach and tomorrow we will cross the border to Nicaragua for hopefully cheaper prices and a more traditional culture!
Lots of love
Shane and Sarah
