Bom dia from Belem. Just finished our 4 day boat trip down the Rio Amazonas and have now arrived at Belem, situated close to the mouth of the river. What a great trip. 4 nights in a hammock, hot, cold, windy, wet, sunny, stormy weather; blocked toilets; dry bread for breakfast; rice, spaghetti and meat for lunch and dinner; waking up wet from the rain at 3am most mornings, reading; playing cards with new friends (Lars, Daniel, Justine, Anneke); cutting my (Shane) finger and then passing out and waking up after hitting my head on the floor; locals continuously asking me if I was ok and best of all watching the amazing jungle scenery from our top deck hammocks! Anyway, we had a ball and luckily had some great company. Glad however to be off the hammocks but the real bed will have to wait another night as we are catching a night bus this evening which will arrive in Sao Luis 11 hours after departure! All good fun!
