So here I am back in London town, doing what it is I do best here… eating, drinking, relaxing and hitting the markets with Dan! Lol
On arriving into London on the TINIEST plane I have ever been on in my life (and being half convinced it was going to tumble onto the run way after a really rough landing…) I finally made it back to Playboy Mansion (we'll call it by it's nickname cause otherwise I have to say "Stretch, Jay, Dan, Lin, Brenno and Krizo's house" which can get quite long… lol). Apparently my sense of navigation is improving cause after 2 months I still made it there from the train station! (Let's not mention I only have to turn off twice… lol). Friday night ended up being one of the quietest for quite a while! After some drinks with Kel, Troy and Jay and some of their friends and housemates it was time for me to crawl into bed!
A LONG sleep in later the next morning I commenced my mission for shopping. Poor Jay got to come with me to help me find a dress for Mandy's wedding, and was MORE than patient given it took over 5 hours and I didn't try one thing on… Hahaha. His Sarah would have been impressed that I cracked first! Lol. We also went out to Brick Lane and went for a walk through the streets there, which was really beautiful. After a day of full shopping we got home and the house chilled out watching The Hangover - a little too close to me after having one everyday for 2 weeks, but still a crack up nonetheless!
An earlier start on Sunday got me out with Lin, Dan, Krizo and Cam back out Shoreditch way. First we went to the flower market (funnily enough just flowers!), then back onto brick lane (but this time with a really cool market running through it). The funniest part of the day would have to have been walking through the market and running into the promo people who were giving out free samples of these lollies called "Randoms". Now, I'm all for giving out free stuff, but I would have thought they would have had a better strategy about it… you see, as we walked through the market we saw 3 of these people… so between the 5 of us brought 15 packets home… no small stash! On the way home we stopped by the Bavarian Beer hall for some drinks where they didn't have the cider, tonic, lime or much else for that matter… there was a buck's just commencing there as well, so Cam, Dan and I got to see a bit more than we bargained for through the Mankini! *shudder*After a really tough day (Hahaha NOT!) it was great to go home and have Stretch already cooking paella for the house, to make sure we stayed out of his way we all went up to the local pub (The Talbot) for some more drinks, before coming home for a REALLY tasty dinner! It was really great to chill out and chat to everyone - especially as all the funny stories started to come out!
Monday was probably one of the best days I've had here so far! After getting a recruitment agency interview underway (just to make sure I could speak English I'm sure!) Dan and I headed off for the Camden Markets! Camden has got to be one of my favourite places here… it's really Brunswick St, and oozes a cross between ridiculously cool and ridiculous. It's just great! After aimlessly wandering we came across a store which sells new vintage where I found the dress for Mandy's wedding!! So long as it comes in time that is! To celebrate Dan and I went to get lunch from THE best place in Camden Market - Belissima Italian which made us fresh calzones which were to die for! We chowed down on them while sitting on the cool scooter seats which overlook the river. Like I said, this place is REALLY cool! Getting back home it was another chilled out night in the house, sitting around and chatting.
Dan and I planned to go to the Portabello Rd market yesterday… now, we all know what it means when I use word planned… in my defence, I did look it up online and it DID say that the markets were open everyday bar Sunday… APPARENTLY when they say markets, the really mean the shops that are on the street… So Dan and I made the one hour trip out to Notting Hill only to find it VERY lacking in market stalls… after such a great day at the markets the day before though, we really couldn't be too disappointed… AND it was a VERY warm 27 degrees(!!!!) so it made the day that bit more pleasant. One the way back home we stopped in at the famous Hummingbird Bakery, where we got some yummy cupcakes… not quite as good as I was expecting for the price, but tasty nonetheless! After getting back to the house it was time to get ready for Teppanyaki with Kel, Craig and Jay (and some of their friends). Now, this being my first teppanyaki experience I had NO idea what to expect! The chef was SO funny, and was such a crack up, as well as being RIDICULOUSLY skilled with a knife!! Some of the stuff he was doing was INSANE! A ridiculous amount of AMAZING food later (and of course some plum wine!) it was time to waddle home, and chill out at the house.
Amazingly Nick and I have managed to sort out a way to meet up here in London, and after RIDICULOUS amounts of research I've managed to find a way for us to get to the airport too! Who would have thought it would be so hard to get in touch without mobile phones!! Tomorrow marks the start of our adventures together which I'm really looking forward too… I'm kind of picturing it being like Highlander, where in the end there can be only one! Lol. Let's see who makes it out alive!
I've had such a great time here, in a large part due to the amazing people I've had the pleasure of hanging out with, and it's definitely given me a chance to recharge my batteries and get ready for the next leg of my journies! I can't believe how quickly the time has been going, and I get a bit overwhelmed when I think back over everything that's happened over the last few months! I've had the time of my life for sure!!
Once again, thanks everyone for taking the time to read this and send me your messages! Only 3 more weeks of travelling to go and then I'll be home for a short stint before I'm off again! Missing everyone heaps! Lots of love!!
