Our first day in Venice! Once we were able to check into our hotel and take off the heavy load that was on our backs we got cleaned up and were able to take in Venice.
It really is breath taking. I have never seen anything like it before. Everywhere I look I see either a potential painting, or a painting I have seen in the past. It really does look as beautiful as seen in paintings! Not just the architecture, but also seeing children play in the piazza kicking a champagne cork around having the time of there lives. No one, unless your a tourist trying to find you way like us has there head stuck in a phone or tablet like back at home. Everyone is just seeking the pleasure of life and all the it has. Eating, drinking, laughing, just simply enjoying being right there right then is the Italian way. Its wonderful. So Sean and I took that train of thought and put it to use.
We took a vaporetti (boat taxi) to San Marco. Venice is broken down into 5 "districts" and we are in Dorsoduro. SO we toured along the Grand Canal enjoying the scenery and taking many many pictures. We got off in San Marco and SLOWLY made our way back to out hotel. Venice is like a labyrinth with wonderful shops, wine bars and gelaterias along the way The walkways are narrow and you never really know where you are until you get to a piazza or something monumental. We found a wine bar that served wine by the glass for only 1 Euro and crostini's for about the same. We bought a bottle of wine to enjoy later in our hotel but when we went to get dinner I accidentally knocked the bottle down and it broke spoiling all of the wine......... we were very sad. So we just bought another bottle at another place and are currently enjoying it as well as some chocolates that the people in our Vienna hotel gave to Sean for his birthday. So I will continue to enjoy that rather then typing right now. More for later.....
Ciao!
