Last night we had dinner in Times Square then walked to the Empire State Building, took a little while to get through security then we were in the lifts heading to the 80th floor, I thought that was in, but into more lifts to the 86th floor, the view was breathtaking, saw Jersey, Queens, Brooklyn, the East River and the Hudson, the lights were fantastic. A truly beautiful place and to see it all lit up at night was very special.
This morning we got to spend a few hours with Rob's cousin Marty again, he took us to Washington Square Park where we had another great view of the Empire State Building about 25 blocks away .
We then walked to the meat packing district and got to walk on what is known as the Highline, which is a disused railway line built up high, that was used to cart the cattle to the meat works and to also carry the biscuits out of Nabisco which is in the same area and is now the Chelsea Markets.
The Highline is a beautiful area that was saved from destruction and now has trees and plants, walking tracks among the old railways tracks and you even get a view of the Statue of Liberty and New Jersey.
Marty's intention was to actually take us to Brooklyn but unfortunately my back is being a nuisance and am having trouble walking so he came up with this alternative plan close by his home and we loved it.
We then went to the Chelsea Markets for lunch, the array of foods in this place is incredible and Robert had to be dragged out of the Italian deli drooling.
Got to try Chicken Motzah Ball soup...yum.
It was then time to say farewell to Marty, he was a fabulous guide and we enjoyed every minute we spent with him.
Tonight we decided to check out Grand Central Station. Words cannot describe how amazingly beautiful this building is, took lots of photos and will enjoy sharing them with you all when we get home.
We even had dinner there, once again you can buy anything here, even at the railway station, dessert was red velvet cupcakes, Regan I will be bringing home the recipe for you to make for me..haha.
Love to you all.
