Today is our last full day here, caught the hop on to Alamo Square and had yummy lunch in the park, that's after nearly needing oxygen after the uphill walk from the bus. The painted ladies were spectacular with the City skyline in the background.

We walked the neighborhood for a while as the houses were such a great photo opportunity, also saw a burnt out house that was being renovated, the construction guys were hamming it up for us and wanted us to take action shots of them.

Thought we would take a cab to Lombard street but that was not proving easy so we walked a few blocks more and found ourselves in the western addition district, not too nice a neighborhood, our first clue was the cop cars cruising by at walking pace, the large crowd congregating at McDonalds after coming out of the liquor store and the yelling. Could not get a cab so we quickly moved on and eventually got cab on next corner...where the cops were sitting on their motorbikes...felt better there.

Lombard Street was very busy and very very steep, as we had the cab take us to the very top we were brave enough to walk down it, something like 250 steep steps. Lots of cars driving down it ....slowly.

Ended up a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf so just sat for a bit and watched the street entertainment which was excellent, but didn't want to linger there too long, we much prefer the downtown area (and Bloomingdales food court).

We leave for home tomorrow, it has been a fantastic trip, saw all the things we had hoped to see, enjoyed having Steven and Bev along for parts of our trip (they are in Memphis now) and loved meeting so many characters along the way..most of the strange ones here in San Francisco, so many homeless is it sad.
