Hi guys and a happy New Year to you. Have been following your travels sporadically, and am deeply envious. This is just to say that we're now happily settled in La Paz and coping well with the oxygen deprivation. When you finally make it to this side of the Pacific, we can guarantee luxurious accommodation and copious supplies of the tipple of your choice. See you! Fiona

Yousa Maggie and EricSorry we haven’t written sooner but we were waiting ‘til you reached Oz so that we could say yousa. We trust you had a thoroughly pleasant and different Christmas and Sanity was good to you. Here, Surrey was a blanket of beautiful white snow as cosily wrapped up children sledged and made snowmen of various shapes and sizes, all watched by adoring parents clutching flasks of mulled wine and warm Irn Bru. Energetic young couples cavorted on hardened ponds pretending to be Jayne and Christopher making one realise that youthful emotion is such a wonderful thing, and carol singers, in groups of sixes and sevens, trudged along the shimmering pavements producing that wonderful crisp sound found after a heavy fall. Doors opened to greetings of ‘Good tidings of great joy to you and yours’ hotly followed by mediocre renditions of selections from Francis, Day and Hunter’s ‘Christmas Carol Songbook’ - a very reputable publication to use I might add. Seasonal happiness seemed to be appearing everywhere, even the television showed a programme we hadn’t seen before, and goodwill to all men looked to be the order of the day. Then we woke up.Outside it was damp and miserable and I was certain Father Christmas hadn’t ventured far from his front door, however I was desperate to see some snow so I asked Aileen if there was that possibility and she of course reminded me that Iceland wasn’t so far away. I donned my newly acquired heavy socks and bobble hat and headed out, my fingers crossed inside my equally new gloves (I forgot about the gloves) just for good measure. On reaching my destination I quickly realised the idea was futile and all that was available was bagged up ice. ‘As I’m here’ I thought, I’ll pick up some stand by provisions but every shelf was indeed product-less not a complete surprise when I looked at the queues. Families of four (weighed, they statistically should have been eight) were pushing wheelie bins towards the check outs, abandoned normal size trolleys were everywhere and skirmishes were threatening to erupt ( where’s Kent Walton when you need him) so I decided to make an extremely hasty exit thinking that if Barry and Robin could see this there’s an obvious single ‘Obesity’.Anyway it was back to the Tele, open another bottle of ‘3 for a tenner’, scoff one more box of sweeties (between us that is) and decide which programme had been the least repeated. It’s over now until next week when Auld Acquaintance will be all the rage and this is precisely what we are sending you, hoping that you will have a prosperous and adventure filled New Year so, in the words of the late, great Les Gray, ‘Happy New Year baby, wherever you are’,AILEEN & IAN XXXXXXXX PS in the words of the late great Lonnie Donegan ‘Have a drink, have a drink, have a drink on me’PPS in the words of the great but still alive Roy Wood ‘I wish it could be Christmas every day’, now the official chant of Iceland’s regular customers.

MerryChristmas to you both. Have a nice day.
The boys are both in bed now waiting Santa's arrival. To say Craig is excited is an understatement, he's been wanting to sleep all day so the day passes quicker! Cameron is returning to normal following a bit of a bug which caused him to be off school.
Bruce is working tonight and i am on night shift tomorrow so looking forward to spending the day at mum and dad's tomorrow.
merry christmas and a happy new year.Looking forward to following your travels in 2007
lots of love Susan, Bruce, Craig and Cameron x x

Merry Christmas - you've made it to the land of the never-ending-summer ! Hope you have a great time. Remind Tam of that fantastic game of golf we had at The Glen. Remember I broke the course record. No-one had ever shot more than 140 before ! Joan and I are just wrapping up the last minute presents and getting the turkey ready. The kids are both in various boozers in Stockbridge. I'm off to phone Mr Paton cos I'm getting all sentimental. Will be in touch in the New Year. Bye for now.

Keep up the good work, enjoy the Winnibego and have a wonderful Christmas. With all best wishes for now,
