Having a couple of nights in, in luxury - so there! This was intended to be one of a few stops where we had a chance to consolidate our transition from Annie to rucksack - but it hasn't really worked that well. But our time at Byron Bay - in a beach side cabin - and here in Lennox Head - in a very nice beach side apartment - has been very enjoyable, and comfortable. The evidence was on our first night in Lennox Head when E did his usual - slept most of the night/morning on the sofa!!
It was good to be back in Byron Bay again and we spent some time on the beach opposite our cabin and had a game of golf at the excellent Byron Bay Golf Club - one of the best courses we've 'tamed' and costing as much as $25 for as much golf you can manage. However, we returned to news that a shark had been spotted close to sufers on OUR beach and the beach was closed. Glad we'd taken the decision to golf that day although it probably explains why E's swimmers have a huge hole in the backside!!. Never mind we 'Aussies' are a resilient bunch and the following day we were all back on the beach and in the surf - although our foray into the sea was restricted because we'd just had our hair done!!!
While in BB we found the best masseuse who gave us the best massage we'd ever had and relieved aches and pains we never knew we had - just lovely.
We'd run through Lennox Head on our journey south a couple of weeks before and loved its look and location. Hence our decision to spend a couple of days there. We found an apartment on the internet and it was good place to relax, catch up and dine in. At the end of the beach is a lovely walk up to Lennox Head and it reminded us of Gullane (in really good weather) and East Lothian in general. The day we arrived, with thanks to the helpful managers, we checked in really early and headed off to the village of Teven where we had a game of golf. This is an inland, country & short but beautiful course where M thrashed E. Nuff said!! Although we lost a few balls we also found quite a fes so had a net gain in the end.
As ere were linked up to broadband we took advantage to make some more arrangements for our journey in December back to Asia - we booked flights and our hotel in Penang where we will spend Christmas. Devei has also arranged for her family to pick us up in Kuala Lumpur and we expect to stay with them a few days before heading to Penang. We also researched the Foreign Office website for advice on Malaysia, Phillipines, and Indonesia and were encouraged by similar advice for Luxemburg and other European countries - beware of terrorists!!!!
Love
