We had two flights to take us from Australia to Christchurch. The first from Melbourne to Sydney was 1 1/2 long and we even got continental breakfast. We got there 10 mins late to Sydney and had only 50 mins to go to another terminal to get on our flight to Christchurch. It didn't help that the shuttle to the terminal took ages to come but we made the flight on the final call. There were others that had been on the same flight before that we're late so we weren't the only ones. The flight to Christchurch was 4 hours and we got another breakfast. When we arrived to Christchurch we took a shuttle to our accomodation. We are staying at a Jail! An old prison that has been converted, we have our own cell. Some parts have been kept as they were. There is a room you can go in and there are drawings on the wall that the prisoners did.
Yesterday afternoon we went and did a huge shop for the two weeks that we are here. The bags were so heavy I have bruises on my arm from carrying them but at least we have something to eat and drink. We are going to book up a few trips for our stay here as there is a lot to do in Christchurch and the surrounding areas in the South Island.
