I have got a bit behind with the blog updates- here is the update for Wednesday 21st March.
We woke up at 4am and had to meet at reception at 5am for our tour guide to pick us up. We got to the Angkor Wat entrance and had to pay $20 for a one day pass. We then went through and sat on the steps near the entrance to watch the sunrise behind Angkor Wat. It was really beautiful. Our tour guide then took us round the temple and at 9am he took us on the bus back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we got back on the bus and went to the Jungle Temple, used in the Tomb Raider films and also Transformers. It's called the Jungle Temple due to the trees growing on and around the structures.
After lunch we went back to the hotel freshened up and went out again at 4pm picked up by the same guide. We were going to the river to see the Floating Village, a mass of communities that live on the water. There were houses, shops, pig pens, churches, basketball courts and restaurants all floating on the water. We were cruising along when a lady and her child pulled their boat up beside us. The child then held a live python up in the air! They do this so you have to pay them if you take a photo. We all ran to the other side of the boat in case she decided to drop the python into our boat. We then went to a floating bar and shop with an added crocodile pen in the middle with 20 huge crocodiles. We got back onto the boat to watch the sunset and headed back to the port.
That night we went out for dinner in the famous Pub Street in Siem Reap. We went to the Temple Club for dinner where they had live dancers perform traditional Khmer dances. The alcohol was cheap too, Scott had a jug of whiskey for $6 and a free t-shirt which was handy as he hadn't done his laundry yet. After dinner we went downstairs to the club. Everybody was dancing apart from Scott who sat at the bar drinking whiskey watching football.
