Placencia is situated on Main-land Belize but is split from land by in-land waterways so you still need a water taxi to get around and to get to the Main-land. Trade winds, where we were staying is at the most southerly tip of Placencia on a stretch of beach called 'Pleasent Point'. The Sea Horse dive shop was 2 min away on a small pier. The Cabana was fantastic, very basic but esentiall just a wooden hut on the beach looking out to sea. wow! we were very pleased it was great(see the photos) There was a big hammock on the veranda that Scott instantly took a liking to, we were surrounded by palm trees and fairy lights! we got some supplies and checked in with Sea horse. The only thing Clare could manage to eat was strangely a tin of hot dog sausages! We spent the evening soaking in the surroundings, Scott befriending a bottle of rum and Clare hardly leaving the bathroom! In the night the word 'Winds' in the title of the cabanas became apparent and we had to 'batten down the hatches'. The windows were metal slats with mesh to keep out the bugs. There were lots of dogs barking and the wind got right up! It reminded us of something out of 'I Legend' - With the dark ocean lit by an almost full moon the scene was pretty eerily! we soon got used to it. Scott got eaten in the night - I think they know he's got baby blood.
