As the sun slowly sinks in the west we find our hero and heroine sipping Willamette valley Chardonnay on the porch overlooking the Pacific Ocean........fade to black. The day started misty/foggy but warm. We motored down the coast as far south as Coos Bay south of the coastal sand dune fields. Coos Bay is a community of loggers, fishermen and oyster farmers. We stopped at Chuck's Seafood and tried his smoked oysters and oyster sticks...........who knew that they made sticks from oysters, but I'm glad they do because they are awesome tasty. It seems they take smoked oyster meat and form it into a..........stick, hence the name. File it under "weird but wonderful". They (Chuck) had hand made Myrtle wood baskets of all sizes. A local retired ship builder is making these baskets from Myrtle, which is an Oregon hardwood. Tomorrow we move north up the coast towards Lincoln City Oregon, who knows what new taste treat we will find. Ciao for now.
