We were woken up this morning about 6am by the Frenchies and the guard wanting to put our beds away - Dave was not amused and looked like a grumpy old bear! We arrived at Bangkok station around 7am and headed towards the tuk tuks. However we were intercepted by a taxi driver who offered us 200 baht to take us to our hotel which we turned down saying we would only pay 80 which after a lot of haggling he reluctantly agreed to!! Today was our last day in Chiang Mai. We checked out of our rooms at about 10am then went off to mill about for the day before getting the night train back to bangkok. We spent about 2 hours playing pool which was free if you bought a drink so we just bought 2 cokes and made them last! After another great breakfast at 'Little Tibet' restaurant we bartered with a tuk tuk driver to take us to the hilltribe museum just out of Chiang Mai. However after about 10 minutes, clouds of smoke started to billow out of the engine and we had to pull over while the driver atempted a botch repair job, pouring pond water into the radiator! Today we got up early as we had booked to do a Thai cookery course for the day. This began with us going to the local market where the teacher, Permpoon Nabnian pointed out all the different foods - rice, egg and glass noodles, different types of aubergine, pineapple and papaya and all the different types of rice. Today we got up quite late - catching up on missed sleep from our trek! We then went and had a lovely breakfast at the cafe next to our guesthouse - museli, yoghurt and fresh fruit with toast and marmalade and freshly squeezed pinapple juice all for about 2 quid.
