I wake up and I feel human again! What a change to yesterday evening! We take a quiet breakfast at the rooftop bar of our friend Luis and - sipping our hot coffee - we enjoy the most amazing view over the Cerro de los siete colores. As I did not get any view over the village yesterday, we stroll around and climb up to the best viewpoint after breakfast .The village lies against the exceptional Cerro de los Siete Colores, which has sedimentary rocks of different colours illustrating various geological eras. Handicraft fairs colour the village streets, with clothing, crafts, ponchos, and woven cloths spreaded all over.
We go shopping for some lunch and leave Purmamarca direction Quebrada de Humahuaca, a narrow mountain valley in the province of Jujuy. Before heading to Humahuaca though, we decide to drive into Tilcara - which is on our way anyhow - and already book a hostel for the night. We end up in Hostal Los Molles, a bright and cheerful hostel with lots of space and light and a garden with incredible views of the village and mountains. The hostel furthermore has the cutest little black kitten, Carioca, that even manages to charm Joost. Once checked in, we get the tip to drive up to the Garganta del Diablo. Trying to take the shortest route, we almost ruin our little car and we feel we have to return as soon as possible whilst we still can. We make it back with the car still alive and drive up the 8 km correct route. The best possible panorama over the city of Tilcara is our reward.
Once back from this curvy road, we drive towards Humahuaca, the end of the Quebrada de Humahuaca. Having been spoilt with the most amazing sceneries over the last couple of days, we are not overly impressed by this road, but Humahuaca does make up for it, being a cosy little typical south american pueblo at the foot of one of the Quebrada's.
