Omar drives me to the bus terminal and I get a typical big Chilean goodbye hug. Another emotional goodbye as I have truly enjoyed my stay in Hostal KaWeskar.
Zsuzsa is on the bus already as well. After the W-trek we realized we are good hiking partners (both being slow but tough haha) so we decide to continue travelling together for now and go for some more hikes in El Calafate and El Chaltén. The bus drive takes a bit longer than expected and we arrive in El Calafate around 14h30 in the afternoon. We booked different hostels so we agree to meet up at 16h30 to arrange a trip to the glacier as well as a possible visit of the Glaciarum - el museo del hielo.
Although two hours seems like a wealth of time to get back to the village, I end up spending more than an hour to find my hostal. Wandering around and checking my map over and over again, I decide to walk into Marco Polo Suites to ask for directions to Marco Polo Inn (Hostel). It seems that this hostel is closed for renovation though and that I end up in this fancy hotel for the next couple of nights. I still have to make up my mind whether this can be considered good or bad as I end up sleeping between three guys in a four people family room with the beds uncomfortably close to each other. No hostel atmosphere around here but the staff is extremely nice and chatty and after three months of travelling in dorms, I am reminded of what a hairdryer looks like again. Luxury for some days. I will just have to live with it.
After having booked a minitrekking on the Perito Moreno Glacier, we run to calle Primer de Mayo to catch the last shuttle to the Glaciarium. Chatting to the driver - Juan Carlo - we are told that we might not be able to get into the museum as well as the bar de hielo in the two hours we have left. Juan Carlo is so nice to agree though that we will visit the museum today and that he will give us a free ride back tomorrow if we decide to come back to go to the bar de hielo.
The museum seems to be a pleasant surprise as one would wonder how interesting it would be to learn about ice during approximately two hours. Go and check it out.
