I'm back again......... Just!
All was going well in my world until that little red light came on. Now in BMW's mind I'm sure a temperature gauge isn't necessary when a heart attack inducing warning light that gives you no warning of impending doom will do....... but anyway, I made it to Darren's and after much fussing and generally not knowing what I was doing the cooling system seems to be full of cooling coolant and not nasty hot air again. All good we hope. The bike is now in the shop having it's new tyres and chain thing and some new sprockets. I'm sure it will all help to keep me upright although I am the eternal optimist!
Over to Darren. He was busy helping me prepare myself for my first solo trip to Morocco when the urge to go just got the better of him. After literally minutes of thought on the issue we were at the local Honda shop test riding a Honda Transalp that had seen better days but had the worlds comfiest seat. It also had a fuel tank and not a fuel thimble. The advice to never buy the first bike you see was ringing in our ears as we popped round to the KTM shop and for a bit of a laugh asked how much the 640 LC4 was out the front. Darren happened to mention a price and said if it was that amount he'd have it............. He's picking it up on Saturday. It's going to be a fantastic bike for blasting round Morocco for a few weeks...... Riding the thousand miles there and the thousand miles back may be a test of man if not machine though. With an 11 litre fuel tank we may have to stop once or twice but I think Darren will be pleased to stop as often as possible. The seat on the KTM is more like a razor blade as opposed to the comfy armchair that graced the Honda but hey, it's a lovely shade of orange and it's a KTM what other reason would you need?
Two fat blokes on fifty horsepower overloaded knobbly tyred bikes will probably make the news, in several countries so keep watching!
That said, we are like a pair of 5 year olds giggling and making motorbike noises at every opportunity. We can't wait to leave on our adventure and we hope you'll still be following us as we go.
Back soon.........
