(S&T)We finally got to our hotel by about 7am and given it was too early to check in we left our bags with reception and decided to explore. We went across the road to the convention/shopping centre to discover that retail stores open at 10am here, so we had breakfast and lay down on some bench seats to take in the view of the bay and a quick nap. It's very much like the south bank promenade in Melbourne. We checked into our room a few hrs later and having been lucky enough to score a free upgrade we had a much needed sleep (and shower!). Our room is huge... You put your card key into the special slot when you enter the room and the lights come on and the curtains automatically open to reveal stunning city views (wow). It was lunchtime when we woke up, we decided to have dumplings for lunch and then have a stroll around the shops ( all flashy & expensive so window shopping only at this stage ). The pool was the next thing to check out, 57 stories high, it was amazing, the view is unreal. We had a dip and a snack as well as our well deserved 1st drink.
The Night event was welcome drinks by the pool, the view only gets better at night, the lights of the city are like diamonds sparkling. We decided that we were still hungry and so we went down stairs to take a taxi across the bay into the city. We ended up in a place called Clarke Quay, it's on the river and it's stunning, there are lanterns, fairy lights, floating animals that are lit up and lots of places to eat. After dinner we called it a night as we were still getting over the flight and previous night's lack of sleep.
