New hostel tonight Due to the delay in getting a ticket for the train so now in a mixed dorm my bunk mate is a very camp Chinese male who could only say hello in English. Other beds are empty for now.
Today's adventure started out as a walk to try and find a park, some nice green space I could sit and read however as this is Bangkok that was obviously never going to happen!
It's soooo hot today too hot probably not one of the best days to go for a walk but off I trot I came across a nice big green space that was currently hosting a graduation ceremony it was packed solid with students and their families and people selling congratulatory items at the side of the road they kind of reminded me of the dolls they sell in those net curtain dresses at Goose Fair! Ill leave you to guess what they were like.
I thought I'd give this area a miss and my next option was the Royal Throne room I was beginning to notice a pattern with the amount of people surrounding me and then suddenly realised it was Sunday.
Next option was the zoo, entry was £1.50 so I thought why not it has a lake so there is bound to be a seat or somewhere to sit down, again forgetting the fact it's Sunday obviously I wasn't the only person in Bangkok with this idea!
So it got hotter and hotter I kept lathering on the suntan lotion (sorry had to get that in I know it's snowing in notts :)! )
I had a wander round what turned out to be a medium sized zoo with the thousands of other people! The tigers were not in a secure cage, it was a jungle type area with a pond and then a waist high barrier, scary I reckon if they wanted to get out they could but they looked happy enough, happier than the hippo did anyway!
I finished my wander round couldn't find an empty seat so gave up and went back to the hostel.
New roomies moved in Chinese male still there but two new ladies have arrived one of whom is fast asleep already and as the room has air con I didn't want to leave but needed to eat so off I went on my third visit to the Koa San road this was where i made my first meal mistake I ordered the chilli chicken, jeez where the hell do they get the chillis from??!! It was soo hot and chewing on the chilli was not my best move it just got hotter and hotter!! I had no alternative but to drink more Chang beer to help ease the pain! It made for an interesting walk home.
Ok so at this point not sure if you've noticed but I haven't mentioned anyone else on my travels and that's because I haven't met any other English travellers yet or those that speak English starting to get a little lonely as so used to being surrounded by family and friends at home. When I got back to the hostel the lady that arrived whilst I was out was up and about her name is Elina and she is from Berlin she has spent the past two years travelling and does not want to back home she is leaving tomorrow to got to New Zealand, a shame but I got to chat for a while. And due to the wonders of modern technology I also got to Skype Andy.
Best nights sleep in Thailand so far, But I really really can not wait to get out of Bangkok now!
