It was a very long journey indeed to get back to Bangkok last night, it was actually made worse by the driver getting arrested for speeding after we'd crossed the border. 2 hours wait at the border and a police run in turned the 8 hour journey into a 12 hour journey.
Booking into the hostel I soon discovered that I was sharing a dorm room with 6 blokes mostly Irish or from various points in the UK. I wouldn't have minded so much if it hadn't been for the fact that it was their first night in Bangkok so naturally they came back at 6 am shouting about how horrible the ping pong show was!
The next couple days are just going to be admin days, I've booked my transport to Koh Tao and have booked my diving course with Davy Jones Locker for the next week and a half. Cannot wait! Khao San road is just the same as it was 3 months ago when I arrived a lone, nieve traveller fresh from the UK. The only thing that's changed is some of the random cafes and bars along the strip, it's still dirty, over crowded and full of young people getting drunk till the very early hours. Am I sounding old yet?!
Unless something miraculous happens, the next update will be from the golden beaches of Koh Tao.
**update (4th August) - as usual something stupid happens to me! I got chatting to a very nice Irish guy (Pat) in the dorm and asked him how he'd hurt himself (most people it's a motorbike accident of some description) and when he told me I laughed silly. He said he was drunk and fell asleep in a Tuk Tuk and whilst it was going up a hill he fell out of it and ripped his hand open and various other injuries all requiring stitches. Now why is this relevant? I went out last night with Pat to the pub and several buckets of Sangsom and coke later bad drunken Sarah came out to play. On our way home I would have fallen out of a moving Tuk Tuk and smashed myself in just like he did if he hadn't been there and held me inside! Karma almost got me again there, so thank you to Pat for saving me a trip to a dodgy Bangkok doctor! NO drinking for the next 2 weeks anyway, not whilst I am diving!
The picture is of my last night in Siem Reap, the best sunset, shame I wasn't at the Temples on that night!
