After the Mexican party, yesterday seemed like a really quiet day as I think a lot of people were seriously hungover! I awoke this morning with a real sense of missing home and just needed to get out on my own for a bit away from other people.
So I hired a moped for the day. Driving around the other beaches was fun, I got to see some really random monuments and see exactly why Serendipity beach was called the 'Party Beach', packed with bars and restaurants it must light up the ocean more than the fishing boats out to sea. Bumped into Gareth along the strip who told me he'd gotten fired for getting drunk and falling asleep on a sun lounger on his shift...whoops! That's what you get when the booze is free when you're working for your accommodation in a bar on a beach!
I also discovered that there are loads of wild monkeys just up by Independence Beach but didn't stop as they have been known to steal things from passers by. Cambodian policemen seem to have a funny sense of humour, I was coming back from the market and one of them was sat right behind me beeping for me to pull over, so I did and he just kept on driving, he might as well have been waving at me as he went past!
Booked my bus to Kampot for the day after tomorrow, for some reason I just didn't want to go tomorrow. Going to stay at a place called Ollys which has some bungalows on the river side so that should be good. Nothing too strenuous again yet, although it really is about time I moved on from Sihanoukville.
The picture is of me at some random lake on my drive round Sihanoukville.
