Sarah and Nicola Matthews' Travels
Hi,
We are still in Perth and having a lovely time. It is lovely to be with family and everyone is being so good to us. It is not that hot here at the moment because it is their winter, but we have been very lucky and had nothing but blue skies and bright sun since we got here so we dont mind if it is a bit cold.
On our first day here my Aunt Anne took us to a place called Point Walter which was a lovely spot just on the side of the swan river which runs all around Perth. It was a lovely warm day so we sat at the side of the river chatting and we saw about 6 dolphins swim right up to the shore! It was great but my 8 year old cousin Chloe cut us down to size by saying 'its only dolphins!' - they have only been here about 8 months but she is already used to seeing such cool stuff! lucky her!
The next day we had a good explore of the city. We went to Kings Park first which has stunning views over the city. The city is gorgeous as it is completely surrounded by water so with the sun shinning down it looks stunning. We then indulged in a bit of retail therapy before taking a ferry to the other side of the river. The city is quiet small but has quite a few sky scrapers which look gorgeous set against the water and the blue sky.
The next day we had a trip around Freemantle which is a nearby town. By Australian standards it is quite an old town and it is very quaint. It has lovely buildings and a lovely harbour. We did a tour of the prison which was really interesting but very cold!
Yesterday Anne took us to Hilarys which is a gorgeous harbour We had a nice potter around the shops and sat in the sun for ages having a good chat.
So all in all we are completely in love with Perth and are enjoying our creature comforts here so much I think Colette may have to evict us to get rid of us! Its been great sitting chatting for hours over endless cups of tea and lying around watching dvds - I may never leave! Although they have adopted a budgie called Timtam who keeps landing on my head and scaring the living daylights out of me!
