We had a well deserved lie in or what we could, the hotel was right on the main path up to Machu piccu so hikers & shuttles started at 4.30am so we woke to the noise, but I was that tired I kept drifting back off! Didn’t feel too achy yet so we decided to go & explore around the valley, the receptionist at the hotel was lovely she recommended a nice scenic walk to a waterfall, it was mainly a flat trail along the old railway track towards the next villa...

We pre arranged a taxi with the hotel which drove us to Ollantaytambo which is where the train left for Machu Picchu, the taxi journey was stunning some of the scenery was just beautiful & such a contrast of luscious rolling green hills with higher snow capped peaks!
