So we caught the overnight train to Varanasi, it took 14 hours. Getting on the train from Delhi train station was the most complicated and stressful thing we have ever done.

First off our taxi didn't turn up on time so we had to walk to the station with our heavy bags, one of Shafi's drivers walked us there so we didn't get lost, but he couldn't take us all the way to our platform as he didn't know which one we needed and he didn't have a ticket to get through the gates. Once we got to the station we asked a few local people which platform we needed to be on as we didn't know. We were told platform 2 by a policeman so we walked to that platform, then when we got to that platform we decided to check with someone to make sure it was the right one, this new person didnt seem trustworthy and started walking us off in a different direction, then a friendly looking woman stopped us, looked at our ticket and told us that we needed to be on platform 12, and that we didn't have much time so we'd have to run or we'd miss it. So we had to run up loads of stairs and find the new platform, we were both covered in sweat by this time and was exhausted. When we got to platform 12 we asked another policeman if we were at the right platform, he walked us to where our section of the train was, pointed at the list of names of people's reservations and tried to find ours, but our names werent on the list. He said we must have the wrong train. We really didnt know what to do. At this point Shafi's driver turned up and he knew where our train was, it was one of the best feelings ever, followed by some of the most frantic and tiring running either one of us has ever done. We were both dripping with sweat as we ran up and down more stairs to get to platform 16. When we got there the train had already started, so we ran even faster. We looked on the section on the train where list of names was, but it'd been ripped down. Shafi's driver ensured us that this was our train, so he helped us on and found our seats for us. The train then set off and we arrived in Varanasi at 8am.
