The journey across the border was another extensive bus ride... we left at 8.30am and arrived in Bangkok around 5. Bit of a rough journey, but the border was straight forward and my visa worked like a charm.
On arrival after a good shower we ventured upto the roof-top bar of our 25floor hotel. The view was breathtaking. Then to town for our farewell dinner. After food, consisting of curry, sping rolls and won tons we ventured into the busslingi streets of Bangkok. Right in the thick of it on Khoa San Road we headed to the bars. Before reaching them I spotted a cart containing various fried bugs! I went crazy! Our guide picked my up a bag of assorted creatures and I dug in.... get this...
1st - a leaf filled with raw ants.... yummy, kinda crunch
2nd - a giant grasshopper that tasted similar to twiglets!
3rd - a cricket - pretty vile to say the least!
4th - another grasshopper! They were that good!
5th - a little black bug that was very similar to the cricket but less pungent!
We proceeded onto a bar where we ordered a tower (3 litres) of local beer.... I can only say the night got messy. Moved to "The Club" had a good boogie then progressed to a street cafe and drank more beer!
Needless to say I had one hell of a sore head this morning!
After a trip to the travel agent and my last lunch with the guys I hopped in a cab and arrived at my lush hotel. Defo top luxuary of the trip! This evening I've swam, read and relaxed. Having had a weird green curry for dinner I'm off to curl up with a bag of crips and a big bottle of sprite... ready to welcome my birthday in the morning!
Good night all xxxxxx
