A very jittery train journey later we climbed down from our bunk beds and sleeply stumble onto abus. From there we arrived in a very busy port. What seemed like thousands of people were bundled onto the no-window, no-air con boat. We made the fatal mistake of sitting inside! An eternity later we arrived at Koh Phangan's port. A speedy and slightly stomach renching taxi ride up the winding mountan costal roads we were greated by an overly cheery plump lady called Bella. We knew that JB Hut was going to be home from home. Having been fed and filled with beer we hedded to the beach. And what a beach it was. The crystal blue water lapped at the white sand. People dotted all over and one longtail boat achored to shore - ideally positioned for photos. Swimming and bathing took place in access before we lapped up the most beautiful sunset of the trip so far. We were blown away.
The day day flew past on the beach. Sam invested in a snorkle and Lucy and I observed his orange pipe above the water while we lapped up the rays. The party was drawing nearer... and the excitement was building. But NO! The heavens opened! Surely it couldn't rain for the full moon party?!
After a quick investment in some full moon attire (Blue hot pants for me) we started applying the fake tan and make up. Ready to rave we piled into the back of a taxi for another hair raising ride to Had Rin - the FUll moon epicentre.
Instintally the fire, dancing people, misic and atmosphere hit us - I beamed with excitement. We invested in our first bucket - a delightful mix of Vodka, Coke and Red Bull. The sufficiently coated ourselevs in glow paint!
Before I knew it Sam was jumping a fire skipping rope, lucy was stood on a podium shaking her bootie with the rope swingers! A strange boy from Finland had joined us and I had his odd humour as I watched on! Sam carried me into the sea (and lost his shoe en route) so I could dance my heart out on an in-sea podium! The buckets kept flowing, the music got better and the dance moves certinally got wilder....
I heard the song blast out "....Heaven or Hell...." and looked around the crowd... bodies were passed out in the designated "sleeping area", the odd person was carried through the crowd - but nothing serious, and more importantly the 3 of us were certianlly in heaven.
Dawn was fast approaching, from the top of mushroom mountain we watched the sky beginning to illuminate. We greated the morning sitting together on the white sandy, slightly beer bottled, beach. 8am we got a taxi back to the hotel and 3 hours later we relocated to the beach!
Before I knew it Lucy and I were boardiung the night boat to Koh Phi Phi, leaving Sam to relax and soak up the East Islands.
