Hunter Valley - NSW
4092 KM21 & 22 September 2011
I honestly couldn't think of a place Sam and I could be happier. And we had been looking forward to this day so much! When we arrived we did make an amateurs mistake of visiting the Vineyard looking for wine to tasty - they told us with quite a disgruntled look that we need to visit the cellar doors, they only grow the grapes here! Hahah ohhhhh what fools! We drove away rather quickly, picked up some info from an information centre and headed to the only campsite around - $30 the most we had spent on a campsite apart from in Cape Trib. When I asked the receptionist on the phone what facilities they had she mentioned the toilets and bbqs - she FAILED to mention the HOT TUBBB and SWIMMING POOL!!!We couldn't have been happier!Like small children we created our very own whirl pool in the hot tub, got so dizzy we felt sick and screamed and laughed louder than anyone probably had on the quiet campsite in a long time! The hot tub wasn't that warm... but we soon discovered if we plunged ourselves into the icy pool and got back in it was toasty... we had a system.
The next day was filled with winery tours, wine tasty, driving to the next winery, tasting cheese and oils, tasting wine, purchasing wine, driving, tasting cheeses and oils, drinking wine... lunch... drinking wine, eating chocolate, sampling cheese, drinking wine, purchasing wine, eating cheese, drinking champagne... end of day.I was wasted!! The van was filled with a cheese platter we couldn't wait to get our hands on and a bottle of wine to accompany it!Also wine for my parents and a sneaky bottle of desert wine for me!We decided we needed a shower, and some hot tub time, but we couldn't afford to stay in the campsite again.... yes, we did the unthinkable. We snuck through the main gate and jumped right in!It felt so much better when hot tub time was stolen!
