I have fallen in love with Cambodia. After flying through the quiet, un-touristie town of Battambang on the back of a motorbike the real cambodia captured me. The enthused friendliness of all the locals, old and young was inspiring. As well as the fields stretching for miles with little houses appearing occasionally. We visted a little house where they made sticky rice which they stored in bamboo sticks. One of the tastiest things ever! Quite like cold rice pudding! We looked in a bucket that was at the side of the house and they had collected fresh water crabs from the rice fields - they mash up their brains for a meal! An old lady from the house came along side of me and waved one of the big crabs in my face... Nancy and I shreaked and the lady reeled in laughter. We felt a true connection as we laughter and joked together.
Back at the hotel and after dinner Nancy and I shot off for our "seeing hands massage". A massage by a blind person is a Cambodian specialty and I decided that if I wanted to emerse myself in the culture I simply must have to have a massage... and I think I deserved it!
Well I knew it would be different to a western massage ... but oh my god. Lets say I have bruises over my body now! It was satisfying in a weird way but the strength of the man that did mine was phenomenal! He did crack me in the right places and I do feel better for it.... but my life! At an indebth butt massage is something I haven't experienced previously..........
