After a late start we packed up, loaded up the car, and headed south to Skanor. Skanor is actually an island off the south west coast of Sweden, but it's connected by a bridge. It's known as the Hamptons of Sweden, as lots of people have fancy summer houses here.
After feeling petty hungry early on we pulled off the road in search of a castle and something to eat. We did t find the castle, but did discover a very cute cafe with a beautiful garden around the back. We had a traditional Swedish lunch which is a baked potato with shrimp and a sour cream sauce, and salad on the side. YUM!
While we were eating there was a very friendly hedgehog walking around the bushes nearby! Very cute!
We continued the drive down south , and I couldn't help notice that parts of Sweden look really similar to new Zealand! Stina reckons new Zealand is Sweden on steroids! Haha ... But it was a very pretty drive, passing by old farm houses, forest, and crops!
We had a stop along the way to see them making peppermint candy ( the home of the candy canes) , and then arrived in Skanor just in time for dinner. Stinas parents house is an amazing , huge old stables that they renovated and turned into a beautiful house and gardens!
