Fort Kochi!
Finally arrived in Fort Kochi after a stressful day in Mumbai...way too many cars and people when trying to deal with jet lag! Our hostel was down an alley way - so many alley ways - got to love the alley ways don't we Emma!? Sarah got run over by a bike on our first crossing of the road :p (no injuries - just a lot of laughing Indians!)
Got an early flight down south and it feels like a million miles away. We have spent the last few days soaking up the sunshine and the 30 degree heat. Our first shower was actually not that bad and the people running the homestay were really friendly.
Saw the Chinese fish nets in action which was pretty cool. We have spent the afternoon searching for hareems and a bag so we don't look quite so much like American tourists! Still getting used to the currency here...Sarah keeps talking in rand (SA currency) which confuses matters even more!
Highlight of Fort Kochi - hanging out with rickshaw driver, Abdul whom we met on our first day. Yesterday, he came to find us especially to take us on a free tour, provided we helped pay for his petrol by going into a few expensive shops - were we bought nothing! Even though the real pashminas (made of Antelope beard don't you know) were very soft :)
We spent yesterday evening watching the traditional Kerela dance - Kathakali. The costumes and make up were amazing - they act through just a few different hand gestures and facial expressions. Check out the awesome photos we had with the demon...
Already drunk wayyy to much Masala Chai - so tasty!! Especially with a few more lumps of sugar! Anthony - you would love it!
Our new favourite hang out is a place called The Teapot - so cheap and tasty. Tonight, we will check out Restaurant Del Roti, recommended by Lizzie - so hopefully it will be nice!
Off to the hills of Munnar tomorrow to play with baby Elephants in Tea plantations and then onto Alleppey.
