Surprisingly our bus driver from Mysore to Bangalore was not blind, not drunk and was not on a suicide mission - so we managed to arrive safely until we realised that our hotel was in Bangalore's dodgiest suburb! After exterminating a room full of cockroaches with our very handy HIT poison spray (definitely illegal under EU regulations) we made our way on a state bus to MG road which is apparently the place to be - not in our opinion!
After a chai in bed whilst watching Indian MTV (SHEILA....) Bollywood style we contacted Sarah's Dads friend Kavitha who lives in Bangalore. She let us know all the "cool places to hang out" so we spent an entire day in huge shoppping malls and Starbucks a.k.a. Cafe Coffee Day! We found the shopping malls very surreal compared with the India we had got used to. As you walk in it feels like you have arrived in America and most of the Indians are wearing designer western clothes and had American accents - and the shopping prices were very high (boo no haggling allowed!)
In the evening we met Kavitha and her friend Praveen in a luxurious shopping mall owned by the Richard Branson of India (who owns Kingfisher!) for some drinks. They took us to a roof top bar overlooking the city, surrounded by Bangalore's richest! We had to get as many drinks in (for free!) before the bar closed at 11:30!! Luckily Kavitha's personal driver took us to buy some drunken tandori chicken (we try to be vegetarians...) We probably had even more protein when we went to sleep in our cockroach infested room...Sarah sleeps with her mouth wide open!
After Sarah chundered everywah (not alcohol induced...) we stocked up on lots of obscure druges from the pharmacist (you can buy literally anything for any illness for 10p) and got ourselves a train feast for our journey to Hampi!
