Don't let the beautiful photo fool you! This is what we expected of Vietnam but unfortunately we ended up in Vinh now affectionately known as 'grim Vinh' after our stay. We arrived on the bus at 6 after 12 hours of travelling, the streets were so busy with buses, motorbikes, bicycles - it was crazy. We managed to shake off the people trying to drag us to their guest house and found an ATM. There the men from the guesthouses caught up with us and again pointed out where to go. We found a room that I can only describe as a complete greifhole. We tried to get something to eat and couldn't find a restaurant in 20 minutes of walking, along the way walking past a young lad getting the s**t kicked out of him by a 40 something year old man. Ended up eating on the street which wasn't too bad - good noodle soup! All the while being stared at because not many westerners end up in Grim Vinh. Went back to greif hole, slept, got up, back to the bus station, harrassed at the toilet for money, onto a mini bus to Hue (but that is another story). Travelling is so glamourous!
