Here we are having our evening meal by Waikiki Beach.
I decided it was time to look like a local.

One these battleships was Arizona. It still lies where it was destroyed with only bits above sea level as seen on the photo from the viewing gallery built over it. Over 500 men perished on the ship and they are still on board within the ship as it has been too dangerous to remove them. Any survivors of the ship can have their ashes put on the ship by specialist divers.

The devastation on 7 December 1941 was immense. The number of planes and ships destroyed and the number of lives taken. Here crossing the harbour we are heading for the area where all the battleships were anchored. Each white berth shows their location. These were all The US battleships at the time and all but three were repaired and used again.

Today we have had a trip round the centre of Honolulu and to Pearl Harbour. When you make these visits you realise how little you really know about major events and their significance.
I think we conformed to the entry criteria before entering Pearl Harbour.

Our hotel is a few minutes from the sea and this beach.
Here is our first steps onto this famous beach. We will be in the sea here in the next few days but not (sorry Bob) surfing.
This evening we will walk the streets of Waikiki, with a view to eating and having a drink.
Tomorrow morning we have decided to go to Pearl Harbour.
