On to Waihi. We spend a night on a remote site by a river then did a gorge walk. It is the gold mining area of NZ. I wasn't aware gold is mined here and still is. This is us coming out of a 1km tunnel which was used by rail. The walk was splendid.

We visited Mount Maunganui which has this hill protruding into the Ocean and is in the Bay of Plenty. Here we are on the summit.

Well this is what we were looking for. This erupts many times in a day. We did a 2 hour walk to find this vantage point and waited 30 minutes to see this Te Puia erupt. I saved 100 dollars to stand next to it !!!!! It was worth seeing.

We ere unaware there were Redwood trees in New Zealand. We expect to see even bigger ones in America.
