Sarah's and Becky's Travels...!
In Nha Trang, we ended up staying in a dorm as it was a public holiday and everywhere had just about trebled in price!! When we got back after writing the last message on here, we were very excited as we had the whole dorm to ourselves! After about half an hour a man came in asking us to change rooms as there were only 2 of us in there. We didn't really want to, and tried to get him to explain why...he basically said it was because he had some Asians who wanted a room, and they don't share with 'foreigners'!!!! We could not believe it!!! We had such an argument with this man for being racist and ended up having to share with 2 guys in another room. We were so angry - if that had happened in England the guy probably would have been sued!!
Anyway, after a nice couple of days chilling and relaxing on the beach, we headed further south to Mui Ne. We were really disappointed, as the beach had loads of rubbish both on the sand and in the sea and there was nothing in the town, so we decided to treat ourselves and splashed out on a really nice resort so we were happy!!!
While we were here we went to see some sand dunes which the area is famous for. It was quite cool -we saw red and yellow dunes and a red canyon and a red river which was quite bizzare.
We then made our way to Ho Chi Minh City and stayed in a really bustling backpacker road! It took a while to adapt to the manic roads again as we were used to more peaceful towns but we liked it!
While we were here we went to see the CuChi War Tunnels. It was really amazing as the original tunnels were tiny - we could just about fit in them - and people lived in these for about 16 years!!!! No idea how!
After this, we continued with the war theme and went to the war museum. This really shocked us - there were loads of disturbing photos of people being shot or just about to be shot, and photos of people scarred and deformed by the chemicals that were sprayed over Vietnam and even deformed foetuses in jars. It was really horrible.
We lightened the mood the next day by going on a 2 day Mekong Delta trip that ended in Cambodia. We cruised around on the boat along the river and through canals surrounded by jungle stopping on the way at a fish farm, muslim village, coconut place that made sweets and a honey place! We even held a massive python!!! It was actually a really great trip as we saw a less touristy side to Vietnam and felt more ready to leave. We've really loved Vietnam and its definitely a place we would like to go back to!
