After yet another coach journey which we are intending to be out last in South East Asia we have arrived in Siem Reap!
We went to a local bicycle hire shop where we choose their finest bottom of the range for $1 each. They looked alright and the brakes just about worked so we took them for a tour around the town.
We didn't really know where we wanted to go but the first place we came across was a crocodile farm. It was a small place with only a few enclosures. The smaller enclosures had so many in that they were laying on top of each other which we thought was really cruel.
We then came across the bigger enclosures where they had some massive crocodiles. You could buy live chickens, ducks and fish for $10 to feed them but they only had 3 live chickens left, so we left it down to 3 Essex boys to buy them whilst we watched and saved our own money.
They dropped them amongst the crocs and they went mad at 1 whilst the other 2 had a lucky escape! Not for long though as the chicken unaware of his surroundings walked straight across the nose and that was the end of him! (See video)
We had heard about an orphanage on a floating village so that was our next stop! We asked a tuk tuk driver how far, he pointed in a direction and said 15 mins.
1 hour and a half later we arrived and took a long tail boat to the village where 3,000 people live.
3 years ago a big storm claimed the lives of a lot off fisherman from the village which left a hundreds of children orphaned! These children now live in the school.
We went to visit the school but before went and bought them some rice and water to help them survive! Our guide then showed us around the rest of the village and got us back to shore jus as the sun was setting as we knew we had a long bike journey back home.
10 minutes into the journey I got a puncture and we had to put our bikes into the back of a tuk tuk and shamefully get taken home with locals laughing at us as we passed! Our street cred had gone!
It was happy hour when we arrived back to our hostel. $0.50 a pint! So until the barrel ran out (not just us) we left and went to pub st where we met 3 mad people from London. After shots, pints and a few spiders we left very drunk and had a nice relaxed following day!
We moved to a Homestay where we slept in a small cabin as we wanted to experience how the locals lived. They had 3 children and the wife made us dinner which was very nice and then got an early night as we were going to watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat in the morning.
5.30am we got on our bikes and rode to Angkor Wat where we got in the perfect position infront on a lake to watch the sunrise. This is something you wouldn't want to miss!.
That day consisted of riding 25km around Angkor going to various temples which included Ta Prohm where Tomb Raider was filmed. These places are amazing to see as they have so much history and are still very beautiful places.
We are know on our way back to Koh Panghan to meet up with Sarah's brother Daniel and his girlfiend Charlotte to go to the Full Moon Party!
