The Cinema, take 2
Another cold shower in this hostel praised in reviews for its hot showers. We changed hostels from downtown Lima to a touristy and busy area called Miraflores. We arrived around midday to checkin but the room isn't ready so we walked around and sat in the common area. The cleaning lady was possibly the slowest bed maker in history! I think I could do the whole 6 beds in the dark with one arm and limping in the time it took her to strip a bed. At around 5pm the room is ready, 5 hours later. I think it would work out to be a bed ever 20minutes!
Anyway, we headed out to a chicken restaurant and had an amazing lunch. This was some of the tastiest roast chicken we have ever had, and the cows heart pieces were the best we have had. It was tasty and cooked to perfection.
We had big plans for today, but since my foot was really painful we headed back to the hostel. Just before we arrived we spotted another cinema! Hmmm, date night attempt number two? We went to the Peruvian cinema and saw World War Z, in English! It was the full Latin America experience, with talking throughout the entire movie and loud expressions. Whenever a surprise occurs or a twist in the plot, there is a loud outcry followed by a conversation.
We returned back to the hostel where I took advantage of the Pisco Sour special, 2 for $3. We sat and played cards on the roof, me sipping a Pisco sour and looking out over Lima.
After a while a Dutch adventurer came over and talked to us, or at us. He was interesting but it wasn't long till we realised we were being spoken at. On a side note, he was the first person to walk the Simpson desert south to north off track on his own pulling supplies, fairly crazy.
