We arrived in Copenhagen late Thursday night, and spent all of Saturday visiting and documenting the sites we had been assigned for our Town Centers project. I was assigned 'Solbjerg Plads' (pronounced 'solb-yerg'), a square by a school and a mall, built in 2005. Sunday, I was down with food poisoning all day (something I manage to get very frequently, to my dismay), and missed out on the day trip to Malmo.
We walked across the river and visited the outside of the Silo Apartments, designed by the firm MVRDV. We then walked through the nearby neighborhood, and past the next hotel we would be staying at, and caught the Metro to the other side of the city to visit the firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), and have a tour from Kai, a friend of our professor Mark. They're a fairly young firm, but thanks to the European system of awarding projects to firms through contests and not previous work experience (eg - you have to have designed/worked on museums before doing one for yourself), they have done a large number of projects all over, including China.
