I'm jetting my way through Vietnam! A 15 day visa is no way enough time to explore this beautiful place! I will be coming back here.
Phong Nha was a lovely little village that basically consisted of a main road with very little cars and a high way. I spent just 2 nights there but I could have spent a few days. There wasn't a lot to do but it was so relaxing and peaceful. I spent my time in the hammock, in the pool and a cycling along the road. I had chocolate coffee in a cafe owned by the man who found the largest cave system in the world. I don't even like coffee hahaa it was soooo strongg :| . I added more chocolate and then gave up and gave it to the people I sat with in the cafe.
The best part of Phong Nha was visiting the caves! It was AWESOMEEEE! The first cave was paradise cave which was a river cave and it had huge stalactites and stalagmites and the temperature was so cool compared to outside! It was such a beautiful cave. We visited a temple in the national park which was made to remember the people who died making the highway and a group of women who got trapped in the cave next door. We went inside and there was a shrine and offerings. So sad.
The 2nd was dark cave which had dark limestone and no lights. After zip lining over the river to get to the entrance we swam into the cave and eventually climbed out inside. After a small walk and another swim we reached deeper into the cave. We had to swim with our head torches on so we could see. The cave started to get really sludgy and thick and within minutes it was like walking in quick sand. Such a funny situation. Our legs kept falling into unseen holes and we started to get covered in mudd. We ended up in a section of the cave full of thick mudd and we were covered to our necks. It was sooo hard to move, I actually felt stuck hahaa. Our guide told us to turn off our head torches and it was pitch black!!! The mudd was so thick you could float on top of it. When we came out we cleaned off in the river, kayaked to the other side and then me and my friend went on the hand drop zip lined and dropped in the water. So much fun! I also tried the ariel assault course but got stuck half way and jumped into the water again. I loved Phong Nha. Such a fabulous little village. I definitely recommend that place.
I am now in a different village called Hoi An which is the best place to get custom made clothes! I'm considering getting some shoes made if I have time because mine are broken. Today I am doing a cooking class! Yayyyy! I'm so excited. Shrimp spring rolls. Ahhhh loveee it.
I made friends with a guy from Leicestershire in Hanoi and we are travelling together for a bit. I even met another girl last light form Leicestershire ha this world is so small! I will update after my cooking class :) I may also visit the beach later.
Toodle looo.
