Yesterday was the most incredible day! "Today best day ever" as Oh would say hahaha
Woke up early and went for breakfast and then headed down to the docks to get fitted with my snorkel, goggles and flippers. We had a full day of snorkelling planned.
We went on a sailboat called the Raggaqueen by a company called Raggamuffin. Such wicked people. We sailed along to our first snorkelling spot and had a quick briefing. I asked for a life jacket because I didn't think I could snorkel for that long in the sea by myself. The first stop was full of different corals and a few different fish. It took a while for me to work out how to breath with the snorkel but I did it in the end.
When we get back on the sailboat we had lunch. It was like shrimps and fish with potatoes and rice I think. It tasted lovelyyy. The man said he was feeding us for the sharks haha
The 2nd stop was the shark and sting ray stop. When I say loads, I mean there were loadsss of big fish, stingrays and sharks and the men were feeding them. This time I opted to leave my life jacket as apparently you float just using the flippers. Best time to risk drowning around sharks hahaa. I jumped in and I floated :D I was more excited about that at first than the hundreds of fish in front of me. Snorkelling with the sharks was absolutely amazing. They were swimming around us and I got camera happy and was snapping all over the place. The man held a shark for us and I touched it! It felt rough like sandpaper. We stayed with the sharks and fish for around 30/40 mins before getting back on the boat. I was buzzinggg with excitement.
The last stop was the Belize Barrier reef, 2nd biggest in the world after Australia's Great Barrier Reef! This is where I saw the turtles!! Omg they are beautiful and so elegant. We snorkelled around and headed to the break on the reef where the Belizean sea met the Caribbean sea. The water kept changing from ice cold to really warm.
I had such an awesome time snorkelling and we finished the tour sailing the sea eating Cerveza (it's like shrimp salsa with tortilla chips) listening to reggae music drinking rum punch - although I opted out of rum punch this time haaa.
Today we have our last full day on the island of Caye Caulker and I'm going to try paddle boarding!
Peace and Love!!
