We caught our train to Brive after having a taxi ride across Paris , some baguettes & coffee, and a visit to McDonald's for a cool drink and a macaroon (delicious) . We sped our way southward occasionally nodding off ,playing solitaire on the iPad , a bit of stitchery , and having some plastic food and strong coffee from the cart that passed by .Arrived on time at 10pm and walked across the road to our Grand Hotel booked in and struggled up two flights of stairs to our ' comforte' room.
After a lovely shower we settled to sleeping quite successfully until 8am which was great. We breakfasted downstairs , paid went back & packed up and set off to downtown Brive. Bought some ham and great bread rolls and fruit for lunch and sat on the wall opposite the station to enjoy these. We walked down town again & found the Orange shop to get new sim cards for our iPad & phones This turned out to be quite an exercise I think we managed okay . We went back to the hotel collected our luggage and picked up the hire car. Had a bit of a challenge to get out of Brive but eventually made it to Bombel. What an amazing part of the world we are in and which we enjoyed enroute Hope to enjoy these places a little more once the cooking school is over.
I have so much enjoyed the classes today , learning new techniques ,filleting a fish , making creme anglaise for ice cream base , chopping chives chef like etc just great. Phil has relaxed and even had a flight with his model plane. We have had some free time so I decided to catch up on the blog. I am now off to cook grilled seabass on spinach , griddled fennel ,potatoes somehow with a pastis creme fraiche sauce. The dessert is Delice au chocolate All sounds good will let you know next time how it all worked. So far no problems with jet lag which is great.Photo is part of the CookinFrance complex which is a work in progress.
