Hi everyone!
We arrived in Noosa, stayed there for two nights and headed to Hervey Bay where we left for Fraser Island. In Noosa we had a walk around National PArk and saw some koala's in the wild. They had haad a bad storm in the hostel we were staying in and some rooms had been flooded. The next day we went to the famous Steve Irwin's Australian Zoo, which was a fantastic day. We saw live crocidle and tiger shows. We also saw Terry Irwin who didn't look herself at all, so sad.
The next day we left for Hervey Bay, there is nothing to do here except rent your 4by4 to Fraser. We had few drinks and meal in hostel bar, and packed small bag for Fraser. Got ferry over and two guys on our group drove, and they drove well! We didn't get stuck in the sand once, and passed a lot of people who were, but you can't stop to help or you'll get stuck! Fraser is beautiful, white sands, over 100 sparkling, clear, freshwater lakes. The rain forests grow along the sand and along the banks of the lakes. We saw a ship wreck that has been there 70 years now, all rusted up but spectatular view as you approach it. You can't swim in the ocean here, and are advised not to, due to the huge population of tiger sharks, sting rays, and lots of other nastys! But the clear blue lakes certainly make up for that. We camped both nights, and drove the whole 2 days, we had a little go driving on the beach, was amazing. They also warn us about dingos, that live wild on Fraser. We only saw one at our campsite when we arrived but apparently they can be hazard! We didn't have any trouble! The cliffs on Fraser are all different colours, tea colours best describes them, they are spectacular. We floated down a creek called Eli creek, was so refreshing, quite shallow, we spotted a snake hanging from a tree, not sure if was poisinous but we didn't stick around to find out. We were stuck at an outlook point the second day, they advise you not to drive on the beach between 12-4 as the tide is out, and it's so difficult driving on the soft sand (also difficult being a passenger in 4by4)! Unfortunatly we had to go through the soft sand, was an experience I won't forget, I had visions of us being over turned in the ocean, but thanks to our great drivers we're here to tell the story!
We are now at Airlie beach, a party town, with a man made lagoon! Tomorrow we go sailing, the boat we were originally booked on was cancelled due to technical problems which is pity because it was nicer and more chilled out than the one we are booked onto now. But as I keep saying, it's what you make it so I'm sure we'll have fun!
Will update our sailing trip and put pictures up when I get back! Can't believe it's so soon until Christmas, it's so hot here. Crazy! Miss you all, email me with stories! xxx
