Our Travels
After a very late night (no complaints, we were at Wembley to see England beat Poland and secure their place at Brazil 2014!), our journey to Copenhagen seemed to be much harder work than it needed to be. This was not helped by getting soaked through from the driving rain at Heathrow as we parked the car in the long term car park, nor was it made any easier by the 45 minute delay which stretched into 2 hours before we eventually took off.
On arrival in Copenhagen we sped through the airport very easily, pausing only to pick up a six pack of beers and a bottle of red wine to drink at the hotel. We were soon in a taxi heading for the city centre and our hotel, The Scandic Copenhagen. We had heard that Demark is an expensive place, and the taxi ride cost us about 260 Kroner (DKK) which is around £34, actually quite reasonable for the distance.
The hotel was light, bright and modern looking. Our room was also light and bright and modern. Quite spacious but very minimalistic ie, no wardrobe, no kettle and no fridge. No problem, but we had been really looking forward to a cold beer. While Simon was panicking, Amanda's ingenuity and Bushman training quickly came to the rescue. She filled a plastic bag with ice from the machine up the hall and hey presto! a home made fridge. Within minutes those beers were truly ice cold. Mmmm, delicious!
