Back from Whistler!!!
It was awesome, amazing, incredible and beautiful all rolled into one.
We started yesterday by picking up some new people joining us. We then quickly stopped in Stanley Park to do intros and such. Kara and I went to the toliet and came out to see the bus driving off! Luckily I had been there before and knew where the bus came out, so we waited for them to come round the lopp and went running into the road to make them stop! Melissa was horrified that she had left us behind but it was actually quite funny. We always did a head count after that!!
Well I finally realised that I never finished updating this blog...this was not all we did in Whistler!
After the Stanley park incident we continued on our way along the Sea to Sky highway, which is under so much construction coz of the 2010 Olympics! So the drive took so much longer :(
First stop was Shannon Falls, they were narrow and high falls that were really cool. Had lunch at Alice Lake which had these massive big live bear traps which was slighty scary! Then after arriving in Whistler we did a quick tour and then it was off to the hostel which was really nice! It's normally a ski resort in winter and Moose tours use it in summer for a hostel.
That afternoon Hayley, Imogen, Kara and I took a walk into town...and got horribly lost! We continued walking instead of walking left into town, had to ask a random for directions! So we where late for meeting the others.
That night a couple of the others went river zorbing, you are in the middle of this big ball and roll down the river...looked really cool! And surprise surprise we got lost on the way back aswell. When turning out of the village we turned right and walked for around 30mins...in the wrong direction!!! So we got back incredibly late...and Melissa had to cook dinner for us instead of the other way round! After dinner it was bed coz the next morning was an early one!
Then next morning a group of us went ziptrekking. You sit in a harness and slide along these long like flying foxes....the fastest was around 80km an hour and was really high above the trees, such a cool adrenaline rush so early in the morning!
After that I took a short walk around the village before deciding to go up the gondola, one of the best decisions I have made! You take the gondola halfway up the mountain, you get some awesome views. And then you take a ski lift right to the peak of Whistler Mountain, which is slightly scary especially when you are sitting by yourself! :P Once at the top, it was incredible you could see all the mountains around and I did a hike that went halfway down and then I walked back up again....and I saw snow for the first time!!! haha so cool, but I was by myself so couldnt celebrate too much!
Then I came back down again and we just hung out in the village waiting for the bus back to Vancouver :)
Again, I loved Whistler, you could tell though it was for tourists and people with lots of money.
